Giving some willows a haircut

Willows will stand for a very severe pruning every late winter if necessary. A fresh year's growth will add twelve to fifteen feet to where these have been cut down to, with a mass of new growth from each pruned section.

Conditions on McBraynes 'Isle of Lewis'
|
|
- in this case, from the "Isle of Lewis", one of CalMac's vesels.
As I noted to my SNP MSPs Lockhead and Robertson, I have travelled on
a better maintained Bangladeshi river steamer in my time.
The windows are not only filthy but rusting in their frames and staining the curtains.
CalMac is apparently owned by a holding company, owned by the Scottish
Government. Never mind the paying, travelling citizenry, what do tourists make of such a poor example of the care and attention paid to maintenance in Scotland's public transport?

"HERE LIES DR PADDY MORIARTY
WHO MINISTERED TO THE PEOPLE
OF THIS PENINSULA FOR THIRTY YEARS
AND DIED ON DECEMBER 31ST 1944
AGED 51 MAY HE REST IN PEACE"
I loved the quirky yellow rocket (I stand corrected: it is a rowing boat) on his gravestone, its unusual material and unformed shape...
