Loch Spynie Nature Reserve - 3.7 miles

Today's walk was more of a stroll in the park - 3.7 miles visiting the RSPB Nature Reserve at Loch Spynie. My walking buddy is into birds, and with the weather so bad today, she figured we didn't want to be getting soaked miles from home. I had had no idea that this facility was on our doorstep, although I had visited the ruined Bishop's Palace at Spynie many times over the years since I was a boy. Loch Spynie is the remnants of a sea loch which once lapped the hill on which the Bishop's Palace is built. IT contains the largest reedbed in Scotland, and a myriad of birds, otters and other wildlife. We also walked to Spynie Palace, but it was closed for emergency repairs - there were men erecting scaffolding on the roof of the main tower.
