Tagreed al Akashe

Memories of flying in the cockpit of a Royal Jordanian Tristar Amman London in 1985 - almost forty years ago - with Tagreed al Akashe at the controls as First Officer. She was the first Arab female in 1975 to be on the flight deck as a Flight Engineer and went on to become a Captain in 1985. Her later career saw her as the late King Hussein’s Royal Flight Captain before becoming director of training I believe for Emirates. She and Sally Ride, the first female US astronaut were awarded the Gold Medal for services to aeronautics. Abdullah (now HM King Abdullah) and his younger brother Faisal, were on the same flight.
