It's a huge construcion....we call it "Big Foot".....This is towards the base and may be some sort of support. I'll try and connect you to the last oil/gas rig construction which we photographed, actually in a boat on the river, as it was loaded on a float to be towed out to sea!!!

Gormley probably got his inspiration from sights like this on the River Tyne. The Angel was,I think, built in a Shipyard!
