after more than 30 years, the coating started to peel off and dust everything with debris. Washing did not solve the problem.

detail of the coating peeling off. All the zippers, straps and handles still were in excellent condition, so I decided to take the bag apart with a seam ripper and salvage everything but the fabric for a successor bag

As I wanted to carry around a large thermos, a 1.5l water bottle and whatever else we need for day-trips, I sew in two fabric tube to hold the bottles upright (or to be folded flat against the side) and keep them from rattling about and battering our apples or stove-set
