__2022_04_03__ salvageing a "Caribou"

my old "Caribou mountaineering" bag - initially bought in 1984 to haul around heavy law books at UofM

after more than 30 years, the coating started to peel off and dust everything with debris. Washing did not solve the problem.

The finished successor. The "Caribou"-tag credits the long-gone Caribou enterprise for an outstandingly sturdy and long-lasting design.

As I wanted to carry around a large thermos, a 1.5l water bottle and whatever else we need for day-trips, I sew in two fabric tube to hold the bottles upright (or to be folded flat against the side) and keep them from rattling about and battering our apples or stove-set

old fashioned 1l-Nissan bottle and 1.5l PET waterbottle in respective sleeves, plus a toaks 1.6l cooking pot with frying pan lid (containing a soto windmaster stove and a 3oz butane/propane canister)
