Our journey took us past Castle Ardvreck, built around 1590 on a rocky promontory on Loch Assynt, Sutherland by the Clan MacLeod. The mountain in the background is Glas Bheinn. Although the castle is mostly in ruins some walls are still standing after all these years. Inverary Castle, built c1789, is the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. chief of the Clan Campbell. It is one of the earliest examples of Gothic Revival architecture and is situated on the shores of Loch Fyne.
