A Postcard From Islay

Portnahaven, Islay, 'Queen of the Hebrides'. An attractive 19th century planned village with a sheltered harbour and view of the Atlantic, and the best placed mailbox I have come across. The villagers were originally predominantly fishermen and crofters. Sadly, one of the houses has long been abandoned to the elements, It would have had amazing views and is such a shame. Thank you very much Roger. Really appreciated. I fell in love with Islay instantly. When I was 12 years old my parents bought me my first record player. We had a lovely old lady as a neighbour who brought me in some of her records but they were old 78s, one of which was 'Blueberry Hill' My tastes then ran to the The Monkees, and the Stones and I was not impressed. I am ashamed to say I thanked her but quickly binned them! You live and learn!
