Good evening and many thanks George. Yes it is a pier, albeit a small one. The High Lighthouse, or pillar lighthouse in the distance is one of three in Burnham on Sea, and is no longer active

I remember the wall being built and somewhere have a couple of prints of of it, with one showing its cross-section before the next section was added. Time to rummage in the archives! Thanks for the memories......!

Thank you very much Phil. Although we are fairly local I must admit I don't recall too much about the construction of the sea defence wall. I guess it would have been sometime in the mid 80;s? My husband was one of the staff deployed by the local council to shore up the old wall when it was badly damaged in the awful floods of 1981.

Definitely impressive when viewed large.
