Replica of Captain Cook's HMB Endeavour (Now a tourist attraction called The Endeavour Experience) The original HMS Endeavour, also known as HM Bark Endeavour, was a British Royal Navy research vessel that the then Lieutenant James Cook commanded to Australia and New Zealand on his first voyage of discovery from 1768 to 1771. The original Endeavour was first registered as the Earl of Pembroke when she was built in Whitby by ship builder Thomas Fishburn in 1764.
