Thanks very much Roger. The fields here are normally used to plant very young trees (Pine) which are then brought on for a few moths. They are then harvested and sent out to Forestry Commission plantations in the north of England and the southern Scotland, there to grow into mature trees. The biosecurity is to intended to reduce the risk of introducing tree diseases, so perhaps not so sinister.

A super shot Doug. Now that I have read your reply to Roger I understand why the measures are in place. I imagine this is quite a big business by the number of areas that have been cleared in Scotland alone and that need to be replanted.

Thanks very much for kind comment Carol. A couple of years ago I was talking to one of the managers who said they can produce about 6 million saplings a year! I have noticed that at the moment, several of the fields, like the one in the picture are given over to growing grass for winter feed. I imagine this has something to do with Covid disrupting planting of seedlings during lockdown etc.
