Ein Pilz, der die Kälte liebt - A mushroom that loves the cold

The photo shows a golden jelly fungus (Tremella mesenterica), which only appears in autumn and winter, as it thrives in cool and damp conditions. The fruiting body is gelatinous and does not retain its shape, hence its name. It only grows on dead wood and lives parasitically on wood-decaying fungi found there. It is considered edible despite its bland taste. The photo was taken in a mixed oak forest.
