Der Vulkan Eldfell auf den Westmänner Inseln brach 1973 aus und stieß eine enorme Menge an Lava und Asche aus, welche die Stadt Heimaey, den Hafen und die ganze Insel bedrohte, so dass die Insel evakuiert werden musste.
