Bellfield was a Tudor mansion which was extended in 1752; by the end of the nineteenth century the house was falling into disrepair and its surroundings were becoming industrialized. By 1911 it was derelict and it appears to have been demolished c1916.

Seat of the Peacock family, demolished c1900 when its estate was developed for housing. A lodge remains in Brookhurst Road, Gore Brook, Manchester. The Peacock family had made a fortune from building railway engines.
