The 'Matterhorn' of East Tyrol (1)
Early morning departure from the Lienz Hut to the Glödis (3.206m), the Matterhorn of East Tyrol (Austria). Up to the summit 1.530 meters of altitude difference have to be managed. The pure walking time is given as 8 hours. There is an additional 25% for breaks and photo stops. If you start at 7 o'clock, you should be back down by 17 o'clock. Meanwhile there must not be a thunderstorm, otherwise you have a serious problem.

Frühmorgentlicher Aufbruch von der Lienzer Hütte zum Glödis (3.206m), dem Matterhorn von Osttirol (Österreich). Bis zum Gipfel sind 1.530 Höhenmeter zu bewältigen. Die reine Wegezeit ist mit 8 Stunden angegeben. Hinzu kommen 25% für Pausen und Fotostopps. Wenn man um 7 Uhr startet, sollte man um 17 Uhr wieder unten sein. Währenddessen darf es kein Gewitter geben, sonst hat man ein ernstes Problem.

Es hat auch wirklich Freude gemacht. Aber ich habe gemerkt, wie 'Corona' meiner Kondition zugesetzt hat. Deshalb gehen wir morgen früh trainigshalber auf den Großen Rettenstein, zu dem unsere Anreise nicht so weit ist.

1,530 metres round trip is certainly a challenge in one day, especially when climbing is involved.
With such good weather and observations, I can imagine the satisfaction of the summit, as well as at the end of the hike: a little white wine or a well-deserved beer and cold cuts, and a comfortable bed to spare the aching muscles.
But what could be more satisfying...?

I must admit I was pretty tired afterwards. My physical condition suffered a little from all the sitting around during the Corona quarantine.
