I was wondering why people continue to hunt in the 21st century. I suppose it is a mix of practical, cultural, emotional, and evolutionary reasons, even though most no longer need it to survive in a literal sense. The “hunter’s instinct” from prehistory has not disappeared—it has been reshaped and expressed in new social and ethical contexts.

old instincts won't die just because you wear suit and tie ;-)

to speak of Germany: Amongst rural population hunting ist quite accepted. Use of game is like fishing or collecting mushrooms. Farmers and foresters even appreciate reducing game population to minimize damages to crop and trees.

Another reason is (or let's say was) social distinction. Hunting wasn't cheap, so it was kind of an upper class hobby. wearing green clothes and carrying a gund through the countryside proves you as a wealthy man ;-))))

Nowadays there's a shift in motivation to be seen. Now, young people and woman start hunting. It's probably connected with a desire for a life in accordance with nature and the wish to control where your food comes from.

Over all, hunting is still quite common.

hmmm, in SW wäre es halt nicht mehr blau, dann müsste ich die Kontraste sehr anheben, damit Schnee und Nebel (fast) weiß werden und darauf schwarze Striche - und der Wald im Nebel ein Grauverlauf.
Dann wird es m.E. ziemlich beliebig.

Ich wollte nur mein Gefühl wiedergeben, vielleicht auch, weil ich es manchmal mit SW hab', dein Blauland ist natürlich top, wie auch schon gesagt . . .

Für mich gibt SW manchmal etwas intensiv Mystisches her. . . aber das ist wirklich Geschmackssache . . . ich hatte mir das ungefähr so vorgestellt [ ist nicht perfekt, weil ich aus einem Printscreen nicht alles heraus holen konnte :) ].
