man sollte sie ernten und Hägenmark (Hagebuttenmark) kochen, wenn dies nur nicht so viel Arbeit wäre. Pflücken ist noch die einfachste Übung.

Don´t eat directly from the rose bush.
To make Hägenmark - it is a jam, you have to pick the fruits and remove the seeds with tiny hairs. You should take gloves because they produce itchung.

Afterwards you cook the seeds in water for 10 min. You strain it and give this cooked fluid
over the red shells. You let it stand over night and cook it next morning. When the fruits are soft you pass the fruits. Then you cook them with sugar.

It is a lot of work. to remove the seeds is a very unpleasant work.

Bei uns kann man auf dem Wochenmarkt das frische Hägenmark kaufen, da hatten andere die ganze Arbeit und man muss nur noch die Marmelade kochen oder Makronen draus machen:-)
