Arena of Pula
The Arena is the best-preserved ancient building in Croatia. The limestone walls reach a height of almost 30 metres. The theatre is an imposing oval building, measuring 132 by 105 metres. The 72 arches on the two floors, 64 rectangular openings on the upper floor and 15 gates leading to the arena make it a stadium with a capacity of 23,000 spectators.
The amphitheatre was used for gladiatorial games and horse shows. Today it is used for concerts, films and even ice hockey.

American pokeweed remedy or poison?
The American pokeweed, its natural range is found in North America, in some areas of Eurasia it is a neophyte. In various areas of Europe it is considered an invasive species.
Raw, undercooked parts of the plant are poisonous. Vomiting, bloody diarrhoea, dizziness, drop in blood pressure, convulsions, respiratory paralysis which can also lead to death.

On the way to Pula ,this domestic goat we encountered in a wooded area, goats provide meat, leather, milk and sometimes wool. They eat, almost everything, leaves and tree growth, herbs and grass. They are extremely frugal, because they are easy to keep and feed, they are also called the cow of the little man.
Artful naturally decorated hydrants on the side of the road

One last look at the area and the lake, which has a turbulent past.
The lake got its name from the crown estate of the Croatian kings, as it belonged to their territory. It was bequeathed to the Order of the Knights Templar in the 12th century, later it was taken over by the Knights of St. John, around 1400 the Venetians took over, and then the Turks came and conquered the dominion.

The plants in the area of the lake, about 700 in number are registered, but many of them are threatened with extinction.
The great diversity of habitats also results in the great diversity of plants around the lake.
