The present cathedral of Split was originally built as a mausoleum of emperor Diocletian, ithas the shape of an octagon
The bell tower is one of the best preserved on the whole Adriatic coast and with its six floors it reaches a height of about 60 meters, making it also one of the highest buildings of medieval Dalmatia. The construction lasted from the 13th to the middle of the 16th century. Due to the long construction period, the building consists of Romanesque and Gothic style elements.

Gregory of Nin was a medieval bishop of Nin who fiercely opposed the Pope and the official circles of the Church and introduced the Croatian language to worship services. Until then, services were held only in the Latin language.
The 8.5 meter high statue is a busy tourist place in the city, as you can see on the big toe of the statue, due to the many touches the toe became smooth and shiny. Touching the toe should bring happiness

The river Krka still looks very idyllic here, but this will change soon.
The Krka has a length of 72.5 km, it rises 3.5 km northeast of the town of Knin at the foot of the Dinarid Mountains and flows into the sea at Šibenik. The upper 49 km are fresh water, the lower 23.5 km are brackish water. The majority of the river is located in the Krka National Park and is therefore protected.
