Wooler is a small town in Northumberland, England. It lies on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, near the Cheviot Hills. It is a popular base for hikers and is known as the "Gateway to the Cheviots". In addition to many shops and pubs, the city has a youth hostel, many hotels and campsites. The hostel is located on St Cuthbert's Way between Melrose Abbey and Lindisfarne.
Today we will relax, take a walk in the city and have a look around.

St Mary's Church of England Wooler, dates from 1764 and was extended in 1913 with the addition of the choir. The building contains remarkable Victorian windows in the nave and some exceptional 20th century glass paintings in the sanctuary. Many objects in the church are gifts in memory of people or events and give an insight into social history.

Highland Dancing performed by four young ladies.
Gillie Callum, or Sword Dance simply also called the Sword, a Scottish solo sword dance from Highland Dancing.
The dance shown here is a variant, the Argyle Broadsword Dance, in which four dancers dance around four cross-shaped swords lying on the floor. Other amazingly similar dances danced over crossed objects can also be found in Ireland and England.

A Highland Dancers Formation
Highland Dancing is a Scottish form of show dancing, which is characterized by fast footwork and powerful jumps. The dances are mostly solo dances, but can also be performed by four dancers. The music to the dances is mostly accompanied by a bagpipe player.

St. Ninian's Catholic Church,
The church was built with polished stones and a slate roof. Inside there is a high choir arch. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is located at the end of the southern nave. The east window and the glass in the south wing are dedicated to the architect George Goldie, his wife Madeleine de Kersadier and Saint Ninian. In the bell tower there is room for eight bells, only one has been installed, which has not been rung for years.
