Church of the Holy Spirit The late Gothic church of the Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit was built at the end of the 15th century. In the bell tower there is the oldest bell of Hvar from 1487. The building served as the main church for the inhabitants of the nearby village Grablje, who only had their own church at the end of the 17th century. The Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit was dissolved during the French government and replaced by the Brotherhood of Saint Nicholas, founded in 1861.

Panorama Stephansplatz and surroundings The elongated Stephansplatz between Arsenal and Loggia is with its area of 4.500m2 the largest square in Dalmatia. It leads into the impressive Sveti Stjepana Cathedral, which dominates the square with its 16th century Renaissance façade and five-storey bell tower. Next to the church is the Archbishop's Palace, the seat of the bishops of Hvar since its construction in 1249. City loggia and clock tower on the left side of the picture At the harbour opposite the Arsenal, the last remains of the once spacious residence of the city commander are still enthroned today. The Stadtloggia was integrated into the former Kurhotel Empress Elisabeth at the beginning of the 20th century. The arsenal and theatre on the right in the picture The first municipal theatre in Europe was opened in 1612 in the Venetian arsenal directly at the port of Hvar. The then prince Semitecolo succeeded in making a brilliant move to finally create peace between the nobility and the common people. At that time Hvar still had about twice as many inhabitants as today, many of whom belonged to the wealthy aristocracy. To this day, the inhabitants of Hvar have held on to their theater - and the times were as bad as they may have been. Today the theatre can be visited at the 19th century architecture stand, the best occasion for this is of course a performance by a local folk music group.

View from our anchor place to the small town Hvar The town is situated in a small bay on the south coast of the island of Hvar. Surrounded by karstic hills that rise steeply from the sea. Since the soil consists mainly of limestone and dolomite, groundwater is scarce on the island. Olives, wine, lavender and rosemary are cultivated where the soil conditions permit. The island of Hvar The island of Hvar is also called the queen of the Croatian Dalmatian islands. Since ancient times, it has been famous for its important strategic and nautical position, the richness of its various historical eras, its culture, natural monuments and literature. Because of the mild climate, warm winters and pleasant summers many guests come to Hvar.

After a strenuous ascent through the wooded hills we reached the Franciscan monastery. The Franciscan monastery with the church "Madonna of the Angels" The 15th century monastery is situated above the village and offers its visitors a beautiful panorama over the sea to the island of Korcula. It was built from 1470 to 1480 at the foot of Saint Elijah and was under the protection of Dubrovnik until 1806, who wanted to keep the Venetians under control in Korcula. In the 19th century Orebić was home to many important captains and one of the largest shipping companies, the Associazione Marittima di Sabioncello, was based here. The characteristic women's costumes from Orebić show, among other things, this relationship to seafaring. The costumes of the captain women gave exact information about the social position and the wealth of their spouse. Legend has it that the Orebićer captains and sailors, on their departure for a voyage and return, greeted the Virgin of Our Lady of Andjela as a token of their gratitude and as a request for protection. The Franciscans responded to the greeting by ringing the church bells. PiP: in the inner courtyard of the monastery

Thanks to 2 counter-rotating main rotors (Flettner system) it does not need a tail rotor, also thanks to the latest technology it is quiet and generates little down wind. Due to the low drop in performance at high altitudes and high temperatures, it has proven itself in our mountainous topography.
