Avalanche fences/avalanche barriers are structures designed to prevent the formation and sliding of avalanches and to protect the infrastructure of settlements, transport routes and sports grounds.
The type shown here is a wooden snow fence/snow rake. This type is mostly used in reforestation areas, as the forest takes over the avalanche protection in the course of time.
