Sail and Bike Croatia / Splitska
Splitska an old village on the island Brač , with about 400 inhabitants
The name of the village was first mentioned in 1577 AD, when a small castle was built in the village.
Splitska has numerous holiday facilities, including restaurants, shops, tennis courts and a post office.
The village was inhabited by the Romans to quarry stones that were used to build the Diocletian's Palace and many other buildings throughout Europe.
The first inhabitants who settled in Splitska built the Church of St. Mary.
In the 13th century the inhabitants left the village because they were threatened by pirates.
In 1577 a citadel was built in the centre of Splitska.
This castle became the first true landmark of the town.
