This looks like the old Austro‑Hungarian rule: when fruit is ripe, it becomes strong drink, just like our slivovica or marhuľovica. In Slovakia it’s plums, apricots, pears and whatever the orchard gives, and you can see the same family look in this simple glass. You can almost hear grandpa saying, “It’s medicine, just one little glass,” and suddenly the evening disappears in a historically accurate blur.
