To the right and left, bays of the Ionian Sea are visible. In the center below, you can see the fortress's defensive wall from the inside, and behind the wall, not visible but discernible, is the defensive moat.
"Palaio Frourio" ("Old Fortress") is an old Venetian fortress (founded in the 8th century by the Byzantines), built on an artificial island with defensive structures around the entire perimeter.
