Well, when the song first came to mind I was going to mention that I thought it was a song your dad probably played and sang to since you had previously said that he was quite an entertainer and I thought it was of British origin. I did some research, however, and found that the song was written by a couple of Yanks but based on British carnival games, where coconuts were commonly given out as prizes. It was a big hit in the late '40s. Of course, those composers may have pulled a Francis Scott Key and based the song on some British pub tune.
