Thanks! Yes, this is an actual photo! The photo itself is pasted on to what I believe is gold-painted foil, which is embossed to make it look like a picture frame. I have a few other photo cards like this that I just brought over from Flickr--see my Calling Cards with Photographs album. Also, Beverly (Photo_History) has a fantastic collection of early photographic Calling Cards, Business Cards, and ID Cards on Flickr that's definitely worth checking out.
