Eysarcoris venustissimus (Woundwort Shieldbug)
A fine specimen of the Woundwort Shieldbug (Eysarcoris venustissimus) perched on Hedge Woundwort in my garden. I had been hoping to attract these little Shieldbugs into the garden by allowing the Hedge Woundwort plants to occupy a larger area and this year it has paid off, there are several feeding happily from the plants.

Deraeocoris ruber nymph

A nymph of Deraeocoris ruber sitting in the middle of a Erigeron karvinskianus flower in my garden. I was lucky to spot this little chap, I was filling a watering can from the tap when I noticed it sitting in the middle of the flower, luckily it waited for me and was still there when I came back with my camera.

Heterocordylus tibialis
A specimen of Heterocordylus tibialis I think, found on Broom originally but did the usual trick of dropping off as soon as I approached for a picture. This one never stopped running either, trying to pan along blades of grass in pursuit of a tiny bug with Canon's MP-E 65 is an amusing activity for those watching.

A tiny solitary bee (Stelis phaeoptera) feeds from a flower of Black or Common Knapweed (Centaurea nigra) in my garden.
My thanks to Nigel Jones for the ID and information on this scarce little bee.

Herald Moth Larva (Scoliopteryx libatrix)

A young caterpillar of The Herald moth found feeding on one of the willows in my garden. These seem quite common in Shropshire, I find a few every year.
