A caterpillar of Anthocharis cardamines, the Orange Tip butterfly feeding on Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) my garden. Taken Shrewsbury, Shropshire June 2025.

Outstanding , first time I think I've ever seen the caterpillar, plenty of the butterflies about, just, they've had a decent year here for a change

They are an easy species to find, just look at the seed pods on various Brassica plants in the spring, the larvae feed on the pods to start with then often finish feeding on the plants leaves. The eggs are even easier to see, look just beneath the flowers, the eggs are usually laid on newly developing seed pods, they are white at first, soon turning orange and finally a dark purple just before they hatch out.
