ESTREMOZ FIGURINE is a ceramic piece modeled according to traditional, centuries-old craft typologies that originated in Estremoz, dating back to at least the 17th century.
The painting is usually done using bright, vibrant colors reminiscent of the spring landscape, giving the figurine an extremely cheerful appearance.
There were made by potters from the village, specifically by women, who were even called "bonequeiras" (figurine makers).
In December 2017, the craft of Estremoz clay figurines was included by UNESCO in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
