"L’idée que Lisbonne repose sur sept collines remonte au XVIIe siècle, lorsque le frère Nicolau de Oliveira a publié le livre Livro das Grandezas de Lisboa (Le Livre des Grandeurs de Lisbonne). Il s’inspira du mythe de Rome, elle aussi construite sur sept collines, et appliqua cette image à Lisbonne.

En réalité, Lisbonne possède plus de sept collines, mais cette tradition est restée ancrée dans l’imaginaire collectif et continue d’influencer la manière dont la ville est perçue."
