Well taken, though I really object to the claim that these are about safety when (here) they are usually much more hidden and really about revenue raising.

Fabulous shot! I agree Tiabunna, they're more about revenue than safety. Here we have red light cameras and now people often stop short instead of going through when followed closely behind and accidents result. :(

They are usually at the bottom of a hill, or just as you enter a lower speed limit. Well, I always keep to the right speed these day, having been caught once :-) Not bad since I have been driving since 1971! :-))

At least they're really obvious in Portugal. In Germany they like to put them up in less obvious places. After all the cities and communities need the money!! ;-)

Bei uns in Deutschland sind diese Anlagen nicht sonderlich beliebt. Aber meist nur unter den Autofahrern, die sich nicht gerne an die Regeln halten.

I hate them too, but I try to drive not so fast.

Unfortunately they have become a cash making exercise for the government in UK. Wales my country is now making 20mph zones everywhere with camera vans and fixed cameras. But sadly of course idiot drivers are in every country and speed does kill. Getting the balance between motoring and amount of cameras would be my preference
