To finish the poem:

...My liturgy would employ
Images of sousing,
A furious devout drench,

And I should raise in the east
A glass of water
Where any-angled light
Would congregate endlessly.

Philip Larkin.

Larkin was often dark in mood, but there are moments in his poetry, as in this poem, which offer a unique sense of transcendence. Wonderful to see it translated onto this sun-coloured, life-affirming banner!
