I was surprised to spot this bird on our fence today. It is an immature Northern Shrike that spends most of the year in The Northwest Territories of Canada, and Alaska. After I took the shot through our window I noticed that it had killed a sparrow. It flew off carrying its prize. Needless to say, this is a first time encounter seeing this bird.
