View towards Snæfjallaströnd on the northwestern coast of Ísafjarðardjúp which isn't (permanently) inhabited anymore because of the harsh climate. The snow fields are remnants of Drangajökull glacier which has now retreated to the plateau.

Ósvör Maritime Museum
Ósvör Maritime Museum is situated east of Bolungarvik. It conveys a good impression of the very hard lives of fishermen, especially in the sort of weather we had;-)

Flateyri harbour
Flateyri is a fishing village in Önundarfjörður, Vestfirðir. The village (like many in the West Fjords) was hit hard by the decline of the fishing industry and the ensuing depopulation. In 1995 an avalanche destroyed 29 houses and killed 20 people.
Northern lights and starry sky
Waiting game

Quarter past nine on Ringvassøya- whiling away the time, waiting for northern lights. No more luck, it started to snow....
Aurora over Ringvassøya
7.52 p.m.- a night of Aurora watching started promising with a low arc and some more green behind the clouds. The idea was to have the northern lights reflected in the water and ice - it was not to be.
Ominous clouds over Breiðafjörður

Aprroaching Brjánslækur under a threatening cloud. The stormy weather with winds blowing to the south was rather untypical for the season.
