Yes the mysteries of the heavens can be rather unnerving . I can't imagine what the ancients felt when they saw this spectacular event!

There were plenty of superstitions connected to the lights... But in Asia children conceived under the lights are considered especially lucky:-)

Thanks a lot, Annemarie! As long you can find a hole in the clouds any place around the aurora oval is fine:-) I once was in Iceland in autumn, very high solar activity but nothing to be seen because of cloud.
