Svolvær with very weak northern lights and a rising moon. The bright spotlight illuminates the Svolværgeita en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svolv%C3%A6rgeita Shot with Irix 15mm f/2,4 Svolvær unter sehr schwachem Nordlicht bei Mondaufgang. Der Scheinwerfer beleuchtet die berühmte Svolværgeita, einen Felsturm mit 2 Spitzen wie die Hörner einer Ziege.

Taken from Mortsund, Vestvågøy, looking over Buksnesfjorden towards Ballstad. Sadly there was no way to escape the lights- streetlamps and illuminated houses were everywhere. Shot with with Samyang 14mm at f/2,8. View on black!

Aurora over Vestfjord (0:43 a.m.) with a bright moon and the light of Landegode Fyr. It was clear enough to see the Lofoten Islands in the distance. The inset photo was taken at 1.05 a.m. and shows Landegode Island (both photos taken from Hurtigruten ship MS Polarlys)

2 a.m. near Vega archipelago Shot with Tokina AT-X 11-16mm f/2.8 at ISO 5000, 16mm and 1,3 sec.

Northern lights started around 9.30 p.m. at Rørvik, this was taken at 10 p.m. sailing south through Nærøysund ( Kp-index 5-6) . Also see inset picture! Some time after midnight the Kp-index rose to an insane 8-9. The auroras began flickering like disco lights, moving incredibly fast- impossible to photograph anymore.

Taken from MS Vesterålen sailing out of Rørvik, Kp-index was 5-6. All photos were taken within seconds of one another at 10.02 p.m.
