Window in the Rock

The famous "Window in the Rock" was cut in the 19th century to faciliate the hauling up of vraic (seaweed) from Port du Moulin, a pebble beach accessible only for a few hours between tides via steep steps. The rock stacks of Les Autelets are home to seabirds like guillemots.

A beautiful, but rugged looking piece of coastline Gudrun, probably best viewed from a safe distance rather than climbing down to it..!!

The stacks and rocks look very impressive though, and I like the greenery on the slopes and the wild flowers.

Many thanks, Herb! You never manage to see more than the most famous spots on a first visit, I didn't either. On subsequent visits we always picked one new place to explore, having a detailed map helped. This spot is reached via the next lane to the left after La Seigneurie.
