Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Im südlichen Hochland ist wegen der höheren Luftfeuchtigkeit ganz viel mit Zackemützenmoos bewachsen, im Norden wird's deutlich grauer.

I was always led to believe that volcanic lava and ash is very fertile. Obviously not always so! A fine shot!

Thanks a lot, Andy! Theoretically yes, but the Laki ash was very toxic (fluoride) and this is in the highlands where nothing much grows because of the climate. THe "roads" are only open in summer, usually late June/ early July until the first snow in early September.
