Besten Dank, Lothar! Ich glaube, die Ringstrasse heutzutage mit dem Fahrrad macht nicht so viel Spass- zu viele Touris mit Mietwagen... 60% der Geschwindigkeitsüberschreitungen und noch ein höherer Anteil der Unfälle in Island gehen auf das konto von Touristen.

Danke vielmals, Ko! Ich fand, diese Sanderebene hatte einen gewissen Gruselfaktor, wenn man die Bilder von haushohen Eisbergen gesehen hat, die da mit dem Wasser nach einem Vulkanausbruch durchrauschen....

Herzlichen Dank, Uwe! Das ist eine sehr ursprüngliche kahle Landschaft, wo sich kaum eine Pflanze hält. Bevor die Strasse da war, war die Überquerung sehr gefährlich.

Kommt in SW sehr schön, sieht fast aus wie Vulkanlandschaft. Deine Bilder regen an selbst einmal hinzufliegen. Die PiPs sind auch sehr schön.

Besten Dank, Leo! Das ist mehr oder weniger alles Asche, die von den Vulkanen unter dem Vatnajökull runtergeschwemmt wurde (unter dem Eis sind Thermalgebiete mit Seen, die mitunter überlaufen, bei Ausbrüchen ganz katastrophal).

Many thanks, George! This is the main road around Iceland- there are much worse roads;-) The climate isn't exactly benign and anyway there is a speed limit of 90 kmh.
