Dýrarfjörður near Þingeyri

Dýrarfjörður near Þingeyri
Lupinus nootkatensis have been planted in Iceland to help combat erosion but in many places they have started to spread uncontrollably.

Heidiho, Chrissy, , tigermaus and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

In Norwegen war ich noch nie zu der Jahreszeit, ich kann mir's aber vorstellen! In Neuseeland haben sie sich auch ausgebreitet,-)

Thanks:-) They certainly look good and have their uses, for instance in the sandur plains in the south where hardly anything grows.

Lupine species are native across much of the American west, and they're toxic to cattle. So rangelands can get compromised when the lupine starts to take over as a result of overgrazing.

Not good- but probably overgrazing will always be a problem and farmers will realize the negative effects much too late.
