Drying fish heads at Sauðárkrókur harbour

Drying fish heads at Sauðárkrókur harbour
Not so very long ago Icelanders ate the fish heads themselves and exported the fillets. Now the heads are exported to Africa.

Annemarie, Marco F. Delminho, Gabi Lombardo, Xata and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thank you so much! Icelanders were very poor and hard working. They still aren't rich and still hard working...

Fishermen’s life is very hard, even if their conditions improved... As kid I used to eat fish heads, we sold the rest... well, it is not so bad!

Thanks a lot, Isabel! If you don't have much you let nothing go to waste! Living far inland I never ate fish heads but I certainly remember that we had cheap offal instead of prime cuts of meat.
