What could possibly be the reason for them to venture out into Chicago as they are not known to wander far from their 18th century community? The Amish in Illinois may be more modernized ?
Are these adolescents doing their "rumsbringa" maybe (..but chaperoned as I see..!)
The Amish have been in the news in recent years, not because of Weir's film but because of surprising and horrid events..and they remain "strange" to the outside world who seemingly pay to go and see them as part of their tourist "attractions"'..!!

Pas sûre que ces "touristes" soient véritablement des Amish ...(qui me semblent "plus purs et durs", mais une branche parallèle ...comme le suggère Jonathan...
nous avons pu approcher des Amish dans le Wisconsin...et ils travaillaient leur terre de façon archaïque et dure...

A ma connaissance il n'y a pas de différence majeure entre le mode de vie des deux .."Le mouvement amish constitue la branche conservatrice du mennonisme."..
Mais je ne suis pas spécialiste du sujet..;-)
