Space Oddity

Space Oddity
Inspired by David Bowie's 'Space Oddity': youtu.be/iYYRH4apXDo

Chris Hadfield's version: youtu.be/KaOC9danxNo

William Shatner's version: youtu.be/R6Tawqwmlg4

"Modernized"version by Smashing Pumpkins youtu.be/VvdMJAs5NRM

According Bowie himself, the song was inspired by Stanley Kubrick movie '2001: A Space Odyssey': performingsongwriter.com/david-bowie-songs

I was too young at that time to see the film. But later on I of course saw it, and read Arthur C. Clarke's novels, and had rather nerdy phase of being thrilled by everything science fiction related. But I recall hearing this Bowie's song first, and maybe the Major Tom's character and story actually was what really hit me. And I guess it hit also many other's, like it has inspired Chris Hadfield, William Shatner, Smashing Pumpkins and Peter Schilling: youtu.be/hoW4Vw4XGAs

For the picture I took three shots of an old disco ball hanged against dark background. On two versions I lit the wall on one side of the ball instead of pointing the light directly to the ball itself. The idea was to capture the colorful reflections. First stage of post processing was done on GIMP editor. The background and final touch are added on PicMonkey.

I kind of like the funny side of WIlliam Shatner, sort of laughing to himself ;-) But of course the original is the best =D

Thank you Dida =)
