Farther in is the fossil site of the Ichthyosaur, an aquatic dinosaur and namesake of some good beer in Reno.

Here's the actual fossil. To my untrained eye, I can spot a few ribs and that's about it.

Went north up 844 after Berlin to Ione NV and glad we did... it's the town that wouldn't die, population 41.

All these that I photographed are empty, preserved buildings, left unmolested due to the surrounding residents that take pride in the ghost town part of Ione.

The old saloon was partly modernized, but unfortunately no longer operating. It was time for a beer.

Found a camp spot high in the Paradise Range on the way back. Fortunately we found beer and ice at Gabbs that morning.
