Here's part one of our first long trek (nine days) after resettling back in the bay area. Spent the first night at 'camp crappy' (privately owned campground at Pinnacles National Monument) out of convenience, then off to the desert via Walker pass (SR 178).

Spent the second night at Red Rock State Park on SR 14, which we discovered in 2006.

Off to something new the next day, Trona Pinnacles National Monument, which is east of Ridgecrest on SR 178, then south on Pinnacles road just before you hit the quarry town of Trona, CA.
