The Big Gig

The ‘Big Gig’ was a series of entertainments which took place in the UK during the summer of 2013 with the aim of showcasing aspiring talent. The ‘Wiltshire Times’ reported that Serenna Dundas, aged 16, an A-level pupil at Marlborough’s St John’s College, would be playing an acoustic guitar-based set at 2pm. Other acts included singers, groups of dancers and drum parades. Despite fine weather, good organisation, and provision of catering amenities, the event was rather thinly supported and of those who were present a small number ungraciously jeered one of the supporting acts. Later a couple with a dog walked right in front of the top of the bill performer as she sang to the crowd. These photographs record some of the acts and audience at the Trowbridge Big Gig on and around the park bandstand on Saturday 13 July, 2013.
