Another Green Day

A damp Wednesday morning in Trowbridge. An attempt to do it the old way: 50mm prime lens (a Carl Zeiss Jena f/2.8 Tessar); manual focus, of course, and all-manual exposure setting. The camera was a Canon EOS 30D - I am not yet contemplating the final hurdle of film.
The field of view with this camera and lens combination is similar to using a lens of 80mm focal length on a 35mm film camera. Only occasionally frustrating for wide shots, it is generally a satisfying general purpose lens.

Photography and graffiti are hobbies with some similarities. I have published an article on ipernity expounding this belief.
Graffito has enlivened this photograph. Without the embellishment of the drainpipe, the picture would be mundane.

Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f/2.8 lens on a Canon EOS 30D. An all-manual experience. I had but a single focal length to work with on this occasion: 50mm on the 30D provides a field of view equivalent to 80mm on full frame or 35mm film camera. Had I had a standard zoom lens attached instead I would have used a wider aspect. There is something to be said for the challenge of one prime lens.

Tributes poured in this afternoon following the announcement of the death of Civic Pride. Mr Pride had been suffering from lassitude for several years and his passing had been expected as his will weakened and his grip on his responsibilities was surrendered. He will be greatly missed by the older members of the community.

I have isolated and elongated the statue of the soldier and over-exposed the figure to suggest mist.
I remain to be convinced that there is any glory in being killed on a battlefield. Perhaps the word is used in an attempt to help the bereaved.

Very small file due to cropping and processing what remained as a silhouette. I thought it resembled a human figure but perhaps it is just a close up of a tree.
