Light and Shadow

Light and Shadow
Just another assignment. A Tuesday, I think.
A Tuesday in January.
Bloody cold in that old Manor House.
And the car wouldn’t start.
Don’t know how I’ll get back.

What’s that? No make up? OK.
Let’s get on with it.
You stand there. By the window.
Look out. Look wistful.
Can you do bed hair?
That’s nice.
Sorry it’s so cold.
No heating in these old places.

Thank God that’s finished.
I didn’t like the look of that chair
where they put my clothes.
Still, too cold for fleas this weather.
I hope.

He could have given me a lift.
The bus is late.
Wonder what I’ll have for dinner tonight.
Must get some warmer shoes.
They say it’s going to snow.

Nathalie, Boro, Jean-luc Drouin, Armando Taborda and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

I expect you were working on instinct. It's often reliable.

Certainly a kind of dreaming.. The photograph makes reality disappear, while at the same time hinting at the once real presence of the punctum, or distinct point, or person who was real. A kind of punctus contra punctum. As in this writing; certainly a kind of meaning, but the writing makes that meaning blurred.... The object being aesthetic pleasure: the seduction of the eye and mind by light and shadow. We are all spirits melted into light, baseless, insubstantial stuff, but there.

Thank you, Steve, for your perceptive observations, especially the last sentence. It's all temporary, I'm afraid.

An intriguing melding of image and words (yours and Steve Bucknell's).
