I used an 18-135mm lens on a Nikon D50. I cropped out distracting features. I confess to doing this often to compensate for poor technique.

Es gibt keinen Grund sich dafür zu entschuldigen.
Schon bei der Entwicklung werden die Rohdaten interpretiert, entweder von der Kamera oder von einem externen Programm. Ein richtiger Beschnitt kann aus einem guten Bild ein sehr gutes Bild machen!
There is no reason to apologize for that.
Even in the development of the raw data will be interpreted, either from the camera or from an external program. A proper crop can change a good picture in a very good picture!
