Fleischman's Mixers Manuals
I just post these to torture myself now that I can't drink anymore. :P I don't know the actual publishing dates, but they're likely from the years between 1945 and 1955.
Mixer's Manual, 1947/48
The booklet's red to match the bar patrons' eyes! Woo!
Front and back covers from a 24-page promotional booklet published by the Fleischmann Distilling Corp, New York, N.Y.
Mixer's Manual (2), 1947/48
"The Magic Test Tube: It was with high hopes and ambition that two brothers, Charles and Maximillian Fleischmann, landed in America in 1868....Here, perhaps, the wonderful new kind of yeast which Charles had discovered might become a success..."
I wonder how you say, "Hic! Not by bread alone, Baby!" in German.
Mixer's Manual (3), 1947/48
"However, that was only the beginning. With their knowledge of special yeasts for brewers and distillers, they developed these markets and in 1876 decided to enter the distilling business... There first distillery was built at Riverside, Ohio, and began operations that same year..."
One week later, a forward-thinking Robert Bayer put up the first aspirin factory just across the street.
Mixer's Manual (4), 1947/48
"...When repeal brought the end of the long 'drouth' in 1933, distillation of Gin was resumed and operations in the liquor field expanded..."
You've gotta' wonder why the word "drouth" has fallen out of favor in popular discourse.
Mixer's Manual (5), 1947/48
Green ribbon: the universal symbol of income lost when that raging hangover wouldn't let you crawl into work.
Mixer's Manual (6), 1947/48
I think that's an early frame drum doubling as a bar tray on the lower left.
Mixer's Manual (7), 1947/48
Always ride horses, work heavy weaponry, garden, and lean over small balconies while drunk! It's what helped make America great!
Mixer's Manual (8), 1947/48
With the bagpipes front and center, I'm sad that there's no drink called "The Earsplitter" or "The Wailing Dog" included in this collection.
Mixer's Manual (9), 1947/48
